A medium cavity involves the deterioration of enamel and the upper layers of dentin but has not yet reached the dental nerve. Although pain is usually absent, patients may notice sensitivity to hot, cold, or sugary foods.
If left untreated, the decay will progress deeper, allowing bacteria to approach the pulp and increasing the risk of more severe complications.
Treatment begins with the careful removal of decayed tissues using a dental drill. The cavity is then thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to eliminate any remaining bacteria or damaged enamel. An adhesive agent is applied to the internal walls of the tooth to ensure strong bonding with the filling.
We use high-quality, tooth-colored composite materials that blend seamlessly with natural enamel, making the restoration virtually invisible. After shaping the filling, it is polished for a smooth, natural finish and a comfortable bite.
The entire procedure typically takes 30 to 40 minutes and, in most cases, does not require anesthesia. Patients can return to their normal routine immediately after the treatment. However, it is advisable to avoid hard or staining foods for the first 24 hours to ensure optimal bonding and aesthetics.
